Regulations for International Students Application of Undergraduate Study

at China Academy of Art2020

 

The China Academy of Art(hereafter referred as CAA, International Code: 10355), formerly the National Academy of Art established in 1928, is an important comprehensive college for advanced studies specialized in Fine Arts with full range of subjects and majors co-funded by the Ministry of Culture and the government of Zhejiang Province. CAA is under the joint supervision of by the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Culture, and the Zhejiang Provincial Government. It serves as a recognized “Dual World-Class” institution of national high education. In addition, The discipline of fine art is recognized in the "First-class Discipline Construction Project". .CAA offers accredited degrees at the Bachelors, Masters and Doctoral levels as well as accredited Post-Doctoral programs.

CAA has ten specialist schools and colleges including Chinese Painting and Calligraphy, Painting Art, Design Art, Multimedia Art, Sculpture and Public Art, Film and Animation, Architecture Art, Arts and Humanities, Crafts, Art Administration and Education, that are accepting international students for undergraduate study.

 

CAA is located in Zhejiang which is one of China's most developed provinces in economics and cultures. The Nanshan Campus sits beside the West Lake while the Xiangshan Campus rests at the foot of the Xiangshan Mountain. With exquisite serenity, CAA is a sanctuary for the practice and study of arts. More than one thousand international students from around ninety countries are studying here.

 

I. CRETERIA & ELIGIBILITY

1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens aging between 18--30.

2. Applicants of non-Chinese citizens under 18 (must be guaranteed with guardians).

3. Applicants who have given up their original Chinese citizenship and become foreign citizens, according to Order No.42 [2017] of Ministry of Education of the PRC, must become foreign citizens before April 30,2016, and must have lived abroad more than 2 years from April 30,2016 to April 30,2020 (more than 9 months of residence abroad per year can be considered as one year, acoording to the exit and entry stamps).

4. If the applicant has acquired foreign citizenship automatically at the time of birth in a foreign country, whose parents are both Chinese citizens, or one of the parents is a Chinese citizen, the review of applicants application will be implemented according to the No.210 [2008] Article issued by Exit-Entry Administration Office, Provincial Public Security Bureau, Zhejiang Province.(Reminder: Chinese nationality should be canceled in case of the above)

 

II. APPLICATION DOCUMENTS

1. first copy of applicant's passport (photo page)

2. One recent ID photo (Photo format: colored 35*53mm ID photo, white background without hat, head takes up no less than 2/3 of photo size, photo size not less than 320*240 pixels, aspect ratio 4:3, size 100-500kb, JPG format.)

3. Students whose parents are of Chinese origin must present their foreign birth certificate; Certificate of Chinese Citizenship Cancellation.

4. Immigrants of Chinese origin must present:

   ① Certificate of immigrants of more than four years

   ②Certificate of record living or studying overseas for more than two years.

   ③Certificate of writing off of their former Chinese citizenship.

5. Senior high school diploma (original copy or notarized copy in Chinese/English);

6. Graduating high school students can provide pre-graduation Certificate. Note: students admitted must submit original copy or notarized copy of their official High School Certificate of Graduation (in Chinese/English)

7. Transcript of all the courses in senior high school (original copy or notarized copy in Chinese/English);

8. Photocopy of valid HSK Level 5 Certificate. Note: students admitted must submit an original copy or notarized copy of their HSK Level 5 Certificate. total scores must be no less than 180 points, with the Listening portion no less than 70 percent.

9. Applicants must submit the applicants’ portfolio of paintings (please refer to subjects list for APPLIED MAJORS OR AREA OF STUDY ) .

10.Photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form. The original copy should be kept by the applicant. The medical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without signature of physicians or official stamp of the hospital, without applicant's ID photo, or photo without official stamps are NOT accepted. Please arrange your medical examination date accordingly due to the 6-months validity of the medical results.(Attachment:FOREIGNER PHYSICAL EXAMINATION FORM.pdf)

11. 2020 CAA International Students Application Information Form. Please log in International College, CAA website (link) to fill out and submit online.

12. Remittance receipt of the application fee (RMB 800 Yuan per major). Each student may submit application for two (2) majors.Account link

Note:

1. Application materials and application fee will NOT be returned regardless of the result of application.

2. CAA may ask the applicants to submit supplementary materials or take a telephone/video interview if necessary.

3. All of the above application materials must be completed and submitted in the official application website (linkon line for International Students of CAA.

VI. Acceptance:

The program plans to accept 50 students. The actual number will be posted by CAA Admission Committee.

 

VII. Admission Process:

A committee consist of tutors from the relative majors will assess all applicantsmaterials, focusing on applicantsacademic performance, HSK Levels, high school GAP etc. Preference will be given to applicants with better comprehensive performance.

 

VIII.Tuition Pre-payment:

1. Within two months of receiving all application materials, CAA will send qualified students notification of pre-admission, and those are not admitted will receive no further information. Please login on the CAA International Student Admission Website to check your status of application.

2. After receiving per-admission notice, students must pre-pay the 1st year tuition via transfer to the given bank account (link) of CAA before the deadline. Then please mail the scanned bank transfer receipt to: caaic_doc@126.com

Note:

1. Please make sure that application information like the name of the applicant and major or area of study is noted on the bank receipt for confirmations purpose.

2. Please make sure to keep your bank transfer receipt, it will be needed when registering at CAA.

3. Formal admission letter, Visa application form (Form JW202) will be sent out in mid-July.

4. Students who withdraw from enrollment for personal reasons will receive a 50% prepaid tuition refund.VI. Tuition

 

IX. Fees:

1. 52000Yuan (RMB) per academic year.

2. Other fees will be charged upon enrollment.

3. Housing Accommodation Fee: 500Yuan (RMB) or 600 Yuan (RMB) or 700Yuan (RMB) per month. Accommodation fee of one academic year will be charged upon enrollment.

 

X. Enrollment

1. Normal enrollment is in early September. Please refer to your formal Admission letter for exact time.

2. Students should apply for an X1 visa at the Chinese Embassy with your valid passport, formal Admission letter, and JW202 Form. When coming to enroll in CAA, please bring above documents (ie. passport, Admission, JW202) and X1 visa as well as the bank transfer receipt of the pre-paid tuition.

3. Please enroll in CAA as per informed time in your formal Admission Letter.

4. Original High School Diploma, Original HSK Certificate MUST be provided upon enrollment for document check.

 

XI. Program of Study

In accordance with Administration Rules for Undergraduate Students’ School Census of CAA, undergraduate students are assigned 4 years for study (students of the Sculpture Department and School of Architecture [architecture, urban planning] 5 years). CAA adopts an “Easy in And Strict out" policy. International students work alongside their Chinese classmates and instructors according to admitted majors or area of study. If unable to fulfill departmental study requirements of academic year for health reasons, it is possible to extend the study period to maximum 6 years (7 years for Sculpture Department and School of Architecture [architecture, urban planning]). Those who are unable to meet academic requirements with maximum time will be withdrawn from study.

 

XII.Entering CAA

1. Within the first three months of study, CAA will make review assessment. Students who are found to be unqualified will be treated as per relevant provisions including canceling admission or student status.

2. CAA follows a two-stage education form of foundation and professional study. During the first year, students of all majors study together within the Centre for Foundation Studies. From the second year, students will go to the departments of their Major. Those whose scores are not qualified will not study their intended major and must obey the allocation of CAA. Students of architecture major will enter the architecture art major or urban design major or landscape design major according to assessment of their professional scores and intention after admission.

XIII. Graduation and the Diploma

In accordance with Administration Rules for Undergraduate Students’ School Census of CAA, students who meet all academic requirements, all compulsory courses (including graduating students’ artworks, designs, dissertations etc.) completed and HSK Level 5 achieved within the time specified while academic attainment and standard of physical education satisfying CAA’s requirements, will be awarded with Certificate of Graduation of CAA. At the same time, those meeting with the requirements of “CAA Regulations for Degrees” will be awarded an appropriate degree certificate.

 

XIV. Major Transfer and School Transfer

1. Undergraduate students are NOT allowed to transfer majors or to other colleges generally. Please check for detailed information in Administration Rules for Undergraduate Students’ School Census of CAA.

2. Students of China Government Scholarship have to give up their qualification for scholarship first and transfer to other colleges as self-paid students.
