Chinese Government Scholarship (B) – Chinese University Program


Chinese Government Scholarship –Chinese University Program(B) is established by the Ministry of Education of China(hereinafter referred to as MOE), aiming to develop outstanding international talent and improve the perception of China’s higher education. Under the mandate of the MOE, China Academy of Art is opening application for full-time postgraduate studies under the Chinese Government Scholarship –Chinese University Program.

 

I. Basic Information and Duration of the Scholarship

1. Coverage of the scholarship:

- Tuition waiver;

- Free accommodation on campus;

- Stipend:  Granted in accordance with the relevant standard;

- Comprehensive Medical Insurance.

2. Categories of Applicants and Duration of the Scholarship.

      Bachelor Degree Students: 4 or 5 academic years

      Doctoral Degree Students: 3 academic years

      Master's Degree Students: 3 academic years    

Note: 

Applicants who apply for courses instructed in Chinese must have a good command of Chinese language. 

 

II. When and How to Apply 


Application deadline: April 5.

Upload all the application documents (refer to section V below) as an attachment to the online application system of CAA (http://caa.at0086.cn/StuApplication/Login.aspx).The incomplete application documents will not be processed.

 

III. Eligibility Requirements

1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health. 

2.  Education background and age limit:

- Applicants for bachelor degree studies must have high school degree. (within the ages of 18-25 years of age)

- Applicants for master’s degree studies must have bachelor’s degree (applicants must be under the age of 35).

- Applicants for doctoral degree studies must have master’s degree (applicants must be under the age of 40).

3.Applicants should have a competitive academic record.

4.  Applicants should not be beneficiaries of any other scholarships.

5. Language proficiency requirements:

- Applicants for Chinese-taught programs:

Applicants for bachelor degree studies must have passed HSK level 3 and submit scanned copies of their certificates. (Original copy of HSK should be submitted when enrollment.)

Applicants for master’s & doctoral degree studies must have passed HSK level 4 and submit scanned copies of their certificates. (Original copy of HSK should be submitted when enrollment.)

If the Chinese level does not meet the requirements for admission to the major (HSK5 for undergraduate students, HSK5 for master and doctoral students), the applications must study Chinese language for one year before you go to study major. 

- There are no Chinese language proficiency requirements for the applicants of English-taught programs, but they (except for English native speakers) must have an internet-based TOEFL test score 90 or IELTS test score 6.5 (or above).

V. Application Materials 

1. Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship, filled in Chinese or in English, pasted with a recent photograph (white background, 35mm×45mm in size).

Applicants shall fill in and submit application form via the CSC Online Application System for Study in China("http://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/"). Agency No. of China Academy of Art is 10355.

 

2.  The application material that Regulations for International Students Application of Undergraduate Study or Master’s degree Students or PhD. Students:(https://caa.at0086.cn/site/admission.html)

(1) Copy of Passport Home Page. If the validity of the applicant’s current passport does not meet the requirement (meaning the passport expires before September 2022), please apply for a new passport before submitting the application;

(2) One recent ID photo (Photo format: colored 35*53mm ID photo, white background without hat, head takes up no less than 2/3 of photo size, photo size not less than 320*240 pixels, aspect ratio 4:3, size 100-500kb, JPG format.)

(3) Notarized highest diploma. Prospective diploma winners must submit official proof of student status by their current school. Students should provide certificate of student status. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.

(4) Academic transcripts (from the undergraduate program onwards). Copies of academic records from first to last semester during the undergraduate, graduate (if any), and doctoral programs (if any) shall be provided. These transcripts shall be issued and sealed  by  the  attending  university’s  academic  affairs  office,  graduate  school,  or student management department. They can be in Chinese or English, but must be attached with notarized English translations if they are in foreign languages other than English; 

(5) Certificate of No Criminal Record(Chinese or English). The applicant shall submit a valid certificate of Non- Criminal Record issued by the local public security authority, usually issued within 6 months prior to the submission date of the application.

 (6) A study plan proposal in CAA. A study plan written in Chinese or English shall contain more than 1,000 characters or words; the proposal of a doctoral student shall be signed by the applicant’s Chinese supervisor;

 (7)  Recommendation letters. Two letters of recommendation (written only in Chinese or English) from professors or associate professors shall be submitted. These letters shall describe the applicant’s objectives of learning in China, comprehensive abilities, and evaluation of future growth, as well as the cooperation between the supervisors or the exchange between universities both in China and abroad.  (8)  Applicants must submit the applicants’ profile and own art works (Applicants must provide for a painting album of design works. Please note title and size for each work).  (9) Photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form. The original should be kept by the applicant. The form is designed by the Chinese quarantine authority and can be obtained from the dispatching authority. The medical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Please provide a list of chest X-ray pictures and blood test reports. Incomplete records or those without signature of physician or official stamp of hospital, applicant’s photograph with no check mark are NOT acceptable. Please choose appropriate time to take medical examination due to 6-months validity of the medical results.

(10)Scan copy of tuberculosis Examination Report. Applicants must be tested for Tuberculosis in a certified hospital or laboratory. The results are valid for six months.

(12)  Photocopy of bank receipt for transferring the 800 yuan RMB application fee (application fee cannot be paid through on-line bank).

All application materials should be submitted to log-on to the China Academy of Art, International College website (https://caa.at0086.cn/StuApplication/Login.aspx). Please fill out and submit the application on line, according to instructions.

 The incomplete application materials will not be processed.

Note: After receiving the application materials, the university will check applicant’s information and process the application via CSC Online Application System for Study in China ("http://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/"). If applicants re-fill or modify the application information at Online Application System after they submit application materials, they need resend the Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship to China Academy of Art online; otherwise the university may not be able to process the application via CSC Online Application System for Study in China.

 

VI. Admission and Notification

1.The selection method of "preliminary examination + interview" is implemented in admission assessment. The applicant in China Academy of Art(CAA) after complete the online application for international student enrollment system, by the  International College to qualification review of the applicant, through the first trial, conducted by professional faculty professional review and organize the interview (interviews unity in the form of online examination through the network to carry out the basic selection, mainly review the applicant's Chinese ability, professional ability, academic research ability, etc.), finally according to the results, a comprehensive evaluation on merit.

2. The name list of the scholarship awardees for postgraduate programs will be sent to China Scholarship Council for review at end of April.

3. After the name list is reviewed and approved by China Scholarship Council, the scholarship awardees will be notified by the university in June and Admission Notice with other relevant documents will be sent to them in July.

 

VII. Notes

1. Scholarship students' affairs are managed according to the relevant regulations of Chinese Government Scholarship. Scholarship students must go through the Annual Review of the Chinese Government Scholarship Status. If students fail in Annual Review, their scholarship will be terminated.

2. Scholarship students are not allowed to change their institutions as well as their academic programs or the duration of study specified in the Admission Notice.

3. For scholarship students who have to suspend their studies due to illness must return to their home country for further treatment and recovery, expenses for the international travel to and from the university will be borne by the students themselves, and their scholarship status will be reserved for one year at most, with the monthly living allowance stopped during the suspension. Scholarships of the students who suspend their studies for reasons other than illness will not be reserved.

4. The International College of CAA is responsible for the interpretation of the scholarship granting procedures and regulations.
