This is to make the complete curriculum list of all the courses for the whole time according to the student’s personal research direction as per the education plan.

1. How to make personal study plan

Please first check the education plan of your major---choose research direction（skip it as it is already connected automatically for students of 2018）-- choose relevant courses—save—present—select. For operational details, please check “Manual and system operational handbook for requirements of making personal study plan” as attached.

2. Personal study plan adjustment

If the personal study plan couldNOT be executed due to course suspension or cancel, please apply to adjust it. When it is approved by the education school or department, please enter the website system to change the personal study plan accordingly. The courses taken or finished cannot be adjusted.

3. Check education plan

a. Every graduate student of MA or PhD has an individual education plan which is shown in “education plan” in the website.（In Architecture School, ONLY general compulsory courses are shown. Please wait for its literary expression and other courses later.）

b. Education plan has got literary part and course part. Literary part is of academic thoughts and education requirements while courses part has listed all the relevant courses of the degree.

4.  Research Direction Choice

Those who have fixed their research directions during admission have been made connected with them already. Please skip it.

Note:

Some freshmen（mainly non-full time students）who haven’t fixed research directions during application are connected to related research directions temporarily. They will fix research direction a second time after entering CAA and course selection.

5. Course selection（as per personal study plan）

a. The student’s personal study plan is based on its major education direction. It is also the basis for the graduation verifying on the courses later. If there is any course which is NOT completed, the student is NOT able to graduate. Therefore please be careful NOT to add any extra course that is not related to graduation in the personal study plan.

b.  Core courses included in the education plan are fixed as chosen already in the right column with RED characters, so it is NOT necessary for the students to choose. Either is it possible to be dropped. Please pay attention to the BLUE elective courses in it. Please pay attention to below for choosing courses:

（1）There are a lot of courses which have the same course name and will be given continuously for more than one term as it is our teaching character. In the written education plan paper, they are shown as one course with notes of more than one term. However in the website system it is shown as more than one course. The figure of the course actually means how many terms it is given. If this happens to your course, please choose as many terms as it is shown（e.g. 4courses）in the website. Make sure NOT to miss it.

For example:

The course Wall Painting and Theory Research is given in four terms. It is shown as four courses of the same name with codes of 33022A045, 33022B045, 33022C045, 33022D045. If it is necessary, please be sure to select all the four of them.

（2）General compulsory courses

CAA offers Japanese and English as foreign languages. Please choose one of them. Academic English for MA as well as English Listening & Speaking are compulsory for graduate students of MA. They are both given in two terms and shown altogether four courses in the website system as Academic English for MA coded as 10002A008 & 10002B008 while 10002A009 & 10002B009 are for English Listening & Speaking. Those whose foreign language is English MUST select them all. Others whose foreign language is Japanese, please pick it up with code 10000Z015.

（3）Compulsory Core Courses

Please pay attention to the attached explanation in course NOTES before selection.

For example:

The course Wall Painting and Theory Research is given for four terms. It is shown as four courses of the same name with codes of 33022A045, 33022B045, 33022C045, 33022D045. If it is necessary, please be sure to select all the four of them.

6. Foreign Language Exemption

a. Those who are qualified to be exempted for foreign language MUST include it in your personal study plan FIRST. Then please apply for foreign language exemption. This is the correct procedure. Otherwise the exemption mark canNOT be input in the website system.

b. Those who are qualified to be exempted for foreign language, after saving “personal study plan”, please click “foreign language exemption” in “my courses” and apply for exemption. For details please check notes of foreign language exemption for graduate students of MA or PhD.

7. Supplementary courses

For those whose supplementary courses required by CAA or their own education plan, it is a MUST to include supplementary courses in the personal study plan. Those enter with equivalent educational level and cross-disciplinary as defined by CAA, please consult with your education school or department. The supplementary courses confirmed by the tutor MUST be taken.

8. Special Notes

a. Personal study plan is adjustable. If some mistakes or missing part are found, please “present” a second time to adjust it. There is NO “adjust” click in the personal study plan. After “save”, click “present” again, it is adjusted. It may be presented many times before it is verified by CAA and school.

b. In order to make it sure that normal selection for 2018 autumn term is going on smooth, it is a MUST to first “present” your personal study plan.（When it is presented, course selection is available. It is NOT necessary to wait for CAA checking to pass.）

c. In case your education plan of major is NOT shown in the website system, please contact the Teaching Secretary for Graduate Students of MA or PhD as soon as possible. ONLY the Architecture School hasNOT input their education plans. But their students are NOT affected to select general courses.
